Manchester United are prepared to spend £22million on Barcelona attacking winger Alexis Sanchez

Manchester United are prepared to spend £22million (26m  euro) on Barcelona attacking winger Alexis Sanchez in order to solve their woes out wide, according to reports.

The Daily Star report that United manager David Moyes will look to Sanchez having watched as Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young have struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford this season.

The article reveals that United had already looked to sign the Chilean international once before but were beaten by Barca back in 2011.

Sanchez hasn’t become the superstar many had expected from him having impressed as a youngster in Italy with Udinese.

Now 24-years-old, the Daily Star believe his value will drop to closer to £20million despite a promising start this season, scoring four in eight league games.

Since his big money move to Spain, Sanchez has scored 30 times in nearly 100 games.

He has a similar international record having scored 19 in 61 appearances but will be able to showcase his talents at Brazil in the 2014 World Cup with Chile all but qualified.
